Editing lines seem to lag behind the production of a future Macbook - be it the MacBook Air or a new strategy around the MacBook.
Every year, Apple organizes a conference dedicated to developers. The WWDC will be held in 2018 from June 4 to 6, and it is always an opportunity for the firm to the apple to unveil its new software, accompanied by some material surprises. And if many expect a revival of the MacBook Air, it seems that the company Cupertino still wants to wait.
According to Digitimes, a Chinese economic news newspaper that has several sources in the factories, assembly lines for a new Apple laptop would be ready and waiting for the start. "Some partners have speculated that the assembly was delayed because of problems with key components, such as processors," says the media. This is not without causing problems in Chinese factories, accumulating components that they do not yet have the right to assemble.
If everything declines as media sources estimate, production should be launched for a release at the end of 2018 - perhaps for the start of the school year, which would make sense to the extent that we are talking about the most popular laptop for students, especially for its robustness and relatively low price. The latest analyzes evoke an update of the MacBook Air which would finally embark a better defined screen, for a tariff "floor".
It remains to be seen, as 9to5Mac rightly reminds us, if Apple will keep the name "Air" for this model, while the range seems to gather around MacBook, whether classic or Pro. A disappearance of the MacBook Air and 12-inch MacBook in favor of a kind of merger between the two models would make sense for the marketing positioning of such a computer. We wonder, therefore, whether Apple will retain the many ports of the MacBook Air or switch to all USB-C - faster and more versatile, but forcing to buy a hub. If we follow the logic of the company, the latter option is more than plausible.
Be that as it may, WWDC is likely to be quite busy in the announcement with the unveiling of all new operating systems, iOS 12 for mobile devices and macOS 10.14 for Macs.
